Sustainable development in the Mediterranean

OPUS (ex APARE-CME Union)

Act with Opus for sustainable development in the Mediterranean Sea by education and international voluntary service.

Our actions

NGO (NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION) with Euro-Mediterranean vocation implanted in Provence, the APARE-CME union proposes a wide range of activities connected to the valuation of the heritage and environmental protection:

  • International voluntary service with volunteers' construction sites, studies campus focused on the ground and soil in the service of the local communities, civic service or European voluntary service.
  • Workshops for every public and discovery of the Mediterranean landscape.
  • Projects of initiation, educational or formation for every public on numerous themes: biodiversity, climate change, prevention of natural risks, protection of dry stone heritage, etc.
  • Projects of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the domains of sustainable development, ecocitizenship, protection of the heritage.
  • Professional development for Provençal young people by restoring the heritage and the environment in construction sites
  • Stays of participative and solidarity tourism in Morocco in particular
  • Camps of active holidays for the teenagers linking initiation to sustainable development and linguistic learning

Who are we

Opus is recognized "undertaken by social utility" and is approved by the State as popular educational and youth association and association for the environmental protection. She benefits from the national label Permanent Center of Initiatives for the Environment (CPIE).

Our NGO is also a consultative member of the action plan for the Mediterranean Sea of the United Nations Environment Programme and development (PAM-UNEP) and supported by the European Union for numerous initiatives in the domains of culture, youth or international cooperation.

Opus mobilizes at least 200 international volunteers every year around a professional team of 16 permanent employees and around thirty professional or voluntary experts: agricultural engineers, ecologists, architects, landscape painters, geologists, mountain guides, specialists of the heritage, environment’s educatives , masons, dry stone muraillers .
